MDOT I-696 & I-94 Interchange Reconstruction
Roseville & St. Clair Shores, MI
This project included 5.68 miles of mainline and interchange ramp pavement reconstruction, drainage reconstruction, pump station rehabilitation, freeway lighting replacement, sound wall repair, sidewalk ADA ramps, pavement markings, signing, signal work, MITS work, landscaping, and rehabilitation of three structures on I-696 from west of Nieman Road easterly to I-94 including the I-696/I-94 interchange in the cities of Roseville and St. Clair Shores, Macomb County. This project includes a 5 year materials and workmanship pavement warranty.
In order to minimize the disruption to traffic on the busy interchange between two freeways only 1 freeway to freeway ramp was closed completely during construction for bridge resurfacing, the remaining ramps were constructed with 1 lane open to traffic. Keeping the traffic flowing through 5 stages of construction was a major undertaking both for the motoring public and the flow of materials to and from the project.
This project was contracted with an expedited schedule and is eligible for various incentives based on completion ahead of the contract schedule.
