MDOT Rochester Road
This project was a 100% reconstruct of the entire downtown Rochester, MI area along Main Street (Rochester Road) from "storefront to storefront". This project required input from the local business owners, the local municipality as well as the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) making communication and coordination during construction a crucial component of the project.
Angelo Iafrate Construction Company (AICC) as the Prime contractor to MDOT was charged with the task of coordinating the construction effort in addition to self-performing the major items of work. The relevant similarities of this project to the solicitation include: SESC Controls, maintaining and protecting pedestrian traffic without impacting the businesses, vehicular traffic control, protecting storefronts, coordination of all utilities needing to go in the reduced space between the back of the curb and the storefronts, replaced 60 EA water services into the buildings which is not typical of road projects, installed 3,441 LF of storm, installed 7,510 LF of water main, 69,838 SF of exposed aggregate concrete sidewalk, 7,322 LF of curb and gutter and 21,393 SY of 9” concrete pavement after self-performing the earthwork and aggregate base operations.
